Discrimination against girl gamers is nothing new in the world of online games. If you're one of those who commonly have to deal with this prejudice you know there's an even higher price to pay - getting hit on by the guys. This is a realism that some, if not nearly all, MMO-playing girls have to live with and it's frustrating because all they really want is to have a good time and be left alone and yet, they just can't have that peace.
If you're a girl gamer, you are probably familiar that there are a lot of things happening online aside from gaming. While it's normally harmless to give the guys a few teasers, some people actually take it to the next level and morph into full-time stalkers. From time to time, they even show up at your door thinking you're ready to spend a lifetime with them just because you were overcome by some extraterrestrial force of random idiocy that had you giving them your name and phone number at one point - two things you should never ever do again, by the way.
And then, just when you think things couldn't get any sleazier, they do. You have a female gamer who gets so welcoming you could hardly refuse when she asks for your phone number. She calls just when you're about ready for bed and turns out to be a 57-year-old male pedophile looking for some coarse, icky fun.
You could be unknowingly trying to blend into the crowd and have some real fun from multiplayer gaming and still, the guys could take it all the wrong ways and start locking on you. And no matter how you keep to yourself, they're going to try and keep tearing those walls down.
In order to run away from these harassers, some girls set up themselves as guys and will try to play as guys which, in the end, turns out to be not a very good idea since girls are girls and whether or not they end up victors doesn't change the fact that they are better off not having to make up to be boys. In any case, most girl gamers know that online perversion is a problem of the online pervert, so why should they compromise their game?
Luckily, not all guy gamers are revolting. Some act like virtual gentlemen and there are those who just don't care about gender which girl gamers are perfectly fine with because girl gamers don't want to be treated like princesses. They have other plans. They want to rule.
