Most Internet users don't want to look at banner ads and even contest their effectiveness. But for a businessman who earnestly works to make his business successful, banner ads are indispensable.

In making effective banner ads, the most important consideration is design. Most people hate these little banners because of very loud colors and sound effects which tend to be very distracting. The good news is, you can make nice-looking banner ads which will probably be a positive attraction to potential clients.

There are software that make you create tasteful ads and provide features you can use to upload, track and display your ads on any permitting web server. Usually, it gives you a code to paste into your html so you can show your ads to the public. When using any of these software, make sure you update it so you can take advantage of additional features which could help even more significantly to the success of your campaign.

When actually designing your ads, avoid the blinking text and those annoying sound effects. They may look good as your work of art, but flashy ads rarely work. If, at all, they only make a site visitor click away. You'll also find it useful to be able to listen to your customers about what type of ads they'll probably appreciate. Usually, successful ads are those that have plain and subtle designs which do not drown everything else on the page.

As far as pop-up ads are concerned, you are absolutely better off not wasting time on them. They'll only get blocked by browsers, anyway. And people rarely even read those pops before they're closed instinctively. You should instead devote your time creating a comprehensive advertising campaign that in fact makes web users interested, not annoyed.

Of course, if you're running online ads, you'll always want to know if you've been doing the right thing with your design or if you've simply been wasting your time and money. You should have an effectual ad tracking system in place so you can follow up on all-important data such as your web traffic statistics which are fundamentally all you need to know to determine whether or not your ads have worked for you.
